Upserve (FKA Breadcrumb POS) is an example of a modern POS software tailored for restaurants, bistros and other food service establishments. It has worked hard to focus on standardized practices that business owners have been familiar with since the early days of POS systems.
Features
- Offline Mode – Sometimes ISPs fail, and the internet just goes out. Upserve offers a very comprehensive offline mode, capable of encapsulating most of the features, with a buffer to update and readjust when back online. Payment systems are less able, but not completely unavailable.
- Advanced Guest Features – Upserve focuses on being a modern point of sale system through some of its extensive guest features. For one, it offers online ordering mode, which lets customers order ahead of time. The ability to order ahead of time and have your food shortly after you’re seated will change the experience of dining out. Upserve also offers tableside service, onscreen signatures, shift prep and of new vs. repeat guest breakdown analytics.
- Advanced Administration –Upserve encapsulates reputation, sales analytics, logbook generation, campaigns, labor reporting, zone printing, table mapping, hold & send mitigation KDS, EMV, tip pooling, and much more. No need for additional software with Upserve.
- Menu Management – Upserve also offers advanced menu management with customization, templates, inventory management/countdown, search, and much more.
- Live Reporting – Upserve also takes reporting very seriously, with hospitality statistics, product mix, labor tracking, check detail, voids & comps, sales reports, payments, and other details.
- Multiple Payment Methods – With this POS, you can accept cards, e-pay, checks, cash, type-in codes, and just about any other type of legal payment method commonly used. Reading cards requires additional equipment—such as the Upserve encasement for tablets—which comes with a small issue we’ll touch on in a moment.
- Standard Interface – This system doesn’t waste time “branding” the POS interface like some chains do with their in-house systems. While the interface is designed around restaurant POS systems, it uses common widgets, controls, and modern best practices which anyone used to mobile interfaces will feel right at home with. This requires very little training.
- Outstanding Support – The developers of this system don’t want to just leave you to fend for yourself. They offer rapid, outstanding support for any issues in setting the system up, maintaining it, or extending its functionality.
- Scalability – This is intended for business sizes of all sorts, and will grow with your business, even working across locations if you become a chain.
Pricing
Upserve charges per terminal, on a monthly structure. It is very reasonable, especially for small businesses which won’t have that many terminals in place. This is probably one of the cheaper of modern POS offerings out there, in fact. |
